After what took ten year of construction work, the artificial sea-level waterway, the Suez Canal, was opened in Egypt 1869. It connects the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, so it allows ship transport between Europe and Asia without navigation around Africa which had a huge impact on the trading business; goods were moved around in record time. |
